As one of the leading next generation DJ’s in the UK, JAMZ SUPERNOVA has passion for her craft in abundance.
The 27 year old from South East London is of mixed heritage, with Jamaican, Irish and Cuban influences. She was surrounded by music from birth, with her parents love of the 90’s leaving an indelible mark on her.
Her skill of being able to select the right tracks – not just the most popular tracks but ones that can make a difference – was quickly discovered by community London radio station Reprezent, who offered her a show.
BBC Radio 1Xtra provided the next platform for Jamz, when she was asked to be part of their development program, ‘Xtra Talent’, and it wasn’t long before the BBC took the unprecedented bold step of offering Jamz three regular shows on the network, alongside inviting her to deputise for Toddla Tand Benji B on sister station BBC Radio 1, Europe’s largest youth radio station.
Through hosting three weekly shows on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Jamz has the privilege and platform to pioneer and showcase new talent across the future RnB, future hip hop and future beats spectrum. Jamz’ input into the “future RnB” scene over the past 3 years has been instrumental in it’s growth and success in the UK, which is now going from strength to strength, Jamz having recently featured top calibre talent IAMDBB, Poppy Ajudha, Daniel Caesar, Tom Misch, Kali Uchis, and SG Lewis on the show.
Jamz Supernova has steadily carved a reputation through her radio and DJ work as having an outstanding ear for new tracks and nurturing talent, for which her own club residency ‘Future Bounce’ has become the go-to spot, featuring the cream of under-the-radar talent alongside underground heavyweights such as Swindle, Nightwave, Branko, Jarreau Vandal, Ozzie, Joe Hertz, Brasstracks, Sh?m, Wize and Gravez. Alongside the club residency Jamz’ hosts regular exclusive Future Bounce ‘Live’ specials flying in International acts for their debut UK headline shows, including Mac Ayers, Gabriel Garzon Montana and Kamau.
Her decision to champion her own unique blend of Bass, House & Alternative R&B to the UK has resulted in Jamz performing at a variety of prestigious venues and events across the country. Her hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed – with RAYE, Jack Garrett, Sam Gellaitry, Dornik, Mykki Blanco, Mick Jenkins, Little Simzand DJ Semtex all inviting Jamz to warm up for them on various shows.
Since making her festival debut at Bestival in 2014 Jamz hasn’t stood still, last year alone gracing the stages and floors of Parklife, V Festival, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Lovebox, Glastonbury, Bestival, Strawberries & Creem, Detonate, Blissfields, Afropunk, Boiler Room, Love Saves The Day, and Motion. 2018 bookings are no exception with her first appearance at Sonar, as well as Eurosonic, Nass Festival, Farr Festival, El Dorado, Ibiza Rocks, Parklife, The Beat-Herder and more.
With all bases firmly covered, and yet constantly striving for more, JAMZ SUPERNOVA is the voice to watch on new forward thinking music from around the world.
