Mount Boom - Friday
Berlin-based DJ producer Jay Donaldson (aka Palms Trax) utilizes ecstatic melodies and borderline lo-fi aesthetics to craft tracks that are as challenging as they are infectious. Born to musically inclined parents in Saltford, U.K in 1991, Donaldson has always had a predilection for music; initially he learned jazz piano and took part in a Metallica covers band before developing skills in Logic and other forms of dance music production. In the early 2010s he moved to London to study Music Technology, but ultimately found that the course wasn't helping him develop the skills he was seeking; this, coupled with a few economically draining club nights, saw him move back home and get a job to pay back his debts. It was during his time working double shifts at a restaurant that he decided to move to Berlin and pursue his passion. Soon after the move, he had finished working on the Equation EP, which found a home as the first release on London-based label Lobster Theremin in 2015. After the record was released he was contacted by Dekmantel, eventually joining their artist roster and going on to release multiple EPs/singles through the label.
